Student Examples - Copy and Paste into a Google Doc

After seeing a child hanged, Wiesel had an exchange with another prisoner. "'Where is God now?' And I heard a voice within me answer him: 'Where is He? Here He is- He is hanging here on this gallows...'"(Wiesel, 62)

“terribly alone in a world without God and without man.” (pg 65.)

“I did not deny God’s existence, but I doubted His absolute justice.”(Wiesel, 42)
Wiesel may believe that a God exists but that does not mean he has faith. He explicitly states that he does not believe in God’s justice which is a fundamental aspect of faith. He could know all the Gods in the world exist, but without believing in their ability, he does not have faith.


That might be true, but over the story it is noted that Elie puts less attention on his religion and starts to criticize it more as time progresses.
